Bronny James’ G League Performance Nets Career-Best 31 Points, Monster Dunk

Bronny James, the 20-year-old rookie and son of NBA great LeBron James, made waves in the sports world with a history-making debut in October when he played alongside his father on the Los Angeles Lakers’ season opener. The achievement marked the first time a father-son duo played together in league history.

Since then, Bronny has split his time between the NBA franchise and its G League affiliate, the South Bay Lakers. He was most recently part of a 122-110 win against the Rip City Remix, the Portland Trail Blazers’ G League affiliate, in El Segundo, California, on January 24.

Bronny had a game to remember, finishing with a career-best 31 points. His performance was highlighted by a monster slam dunk, which he scored on a screen from center Christian Koloko. The dunk, which tied the game, sparked a 9-4 South Bay run.

After the game, Bronny attributed his strong performance to his focus on regaining his confidence and playing his game. He emphasized the importance of learning from every game and the guidance he receives from his teammates and veterans.

The spotlight on Bronny has been intense, but he’s relishing in the attention. “I am having fun,” he said. “Any time I’m playing basketball, any time I’m out here, any time I’m out here walking… I’m grateful for everything.”

Bronny’s father, LeBron James, also took notice of his son’s heroics, writing “GRATEFUL OF YOU KID!!” on social media.

Bronny won’t be rejoining the Lakers for their next game, but he’ll likely return to the G League for another chance to improve his skills.
