Las Vegas Raiders Rookie Tight End Brock Bowers Shatters Two League Records Against New Orleans Saints

It’s been a forgettable season for the Las Vegas Raiders, but one bright spot has been rookie tight end Brock Bowers. Bowers shattered two league records against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, including the rookie receiving yards record for tight ends held by Chicago Bears legend Mike Ditka for 63 years.

Bowers, the team’s first-round pick out of Georgia, entered the game with 1,067 receiving yards, just 10 behind Ditka’s record. He broke the record with a 13-yard pass from quarterback Aidan O’Connell. Bowers also broke the rookie receptions record, which was previously held by Los Angeles Rams tight end Puka Nacua, who had 105 receptions in his breakout campaign last season.

Bowers led the Raiders with seven catches for 77 yards in the 25-10 win over the Saints. The win continues to have NFL Draft implications, as the Raiders are now 4-12 on the season with just one week left to play. The Saints, meanwhile, moved to 5-11 after another game without a victory.
