Director and producer Brett Ratner, who was forced out of Hollywood following allegations of sexual misconduct, will direct a documentary about First Lady Melania Trump for Amazon. The move marks a dramatic return for Ratner, who has been living in Israel and was recently spotted at Mar-a-Lago, the residence of President-elect Donald Trump.

Ratner’s Hollywood career came to a halt in 2019 after an actress accused him of forcing himself on her sexually, and other women described inappropriate conduct. Despite denying the allegations, Ratner’s reputation was severely damaged.

The documentary, which began shooting last month, is set for release in theaters and on Prime Video in the second half of 2025. According to Amazon, the film will offer an “unprecedented behind the scenes look” at the First Lady.

The project is being produced by Argentine documentarian Fernando Sulichin, who has worked with director Oliver Stone in the past. Amazon has not commented on whether the Trump family or organization is being compensated for participating in the film.

Ratner’s involvement in the project has raised eyebrows, given his past controversies. The news was first reported by Variety’s Tatiana Segal, who broke the story early Sunday morning after Amazon rushed out an announcement.
