NFL Hall of Famer Brett Favre Slams Allstate CEO’s Message on Divisiveness After Sugar Bowl Tragedy

Allstate CEO Tom Wilson faced backlash on social media after a video message before the Sugar Bowl, where he urged Americans to overcome their “addiction to divisiveness” and “accept people’s imperfections and differences.” The message came in response to a terrorist attack on Bourbon Street in the early morning hours of New Year’s Day that claimed the lives of 14 people and injured dozens more.

Favre, like many others, was not impressed with Wilson’s statement, calling it “woke” and criticizing ESPN for not broadcasting the national anthem before the game. Many threatened to boycott Allstate in response to the message.

However, in a statement to Fox News Digital, the company clarified that Wilson unequivocally condemns “violence in all forms” and stands with the families of the victims and the community of New Orleans. The company also reiterated its commitment to fostering trust and positivity in communities across the nation.

The terrorist attack was carried out by Shamsud-Din Jabbar, a U.S. Army veteran who plowed through a crowd of people on Bourbon Street using a pickup truck flying an ISIS flag. He was declared dead after exchanging gunfire with police. The FBI labeled the incident an act of terrorism and found potential improvised explosive devices around the French Quarter and in Jabbar’s vehicle.
