Exclusive Interview: Border Czar Tom Homan and Acting Deputy AG Emil Bov Weigh in on Immigration Enforcement

In an exclusive interview with The Epoch Times, Border Czar Tom Homan and Acting Deputy Attorney General (AG) Emil Bov spoke about the latest developments in immigration enforcement and the Biden administration’s policies.

"We’re facing a crisis at the border," said Homan, a former acting director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). "We have a lack of resources, a lack of funding, and a lack of manpower. It’s a perfect storm."

Bov, who serves as the chief operating officer of the Department of Justice, agreed, stating, "The administration is committed to addressing the root causes of migration, but we also need to ensure that we have the necessary resources to enforce our laws."

The pair emphasized the importance of effective border control, citing the surge in illegal immigration and the associated risks to national security.

"It’s not just about people trying to get to the United States, it’s about national security," said Homan. "We’re dealing with human traffickers, we’re dealing with drug traffickers, and we’re dealing with terrorists. It’s a critical issue."

Bov added, "We’re working closely with our international partners to address the root causes of migration, but we also need to ensure that we have a robust border control system in place to prevent illegal immigration."

When asked about the Biden administration’s policies, which have been criticized for being soft on immigration, Homan stated, "I think the policies are a direct result of a lack of understanding of the border and the issue of immigration."

Bov noted, "We’re committed to upholding the law and enforcing our borders, but we’re also committed to being compassionate and treating individuals with dignity and respect."

The duo also discussed the importance of increasing funding for ICE and the Border Patrol, citing the need for more resources to effectively enforce immigration laws.

"In order to have a successful border, you need to have the resources to enforce the laws," said Homan. "You can’t have a successful border without the right resources."

Bov concluded, "We’re committed to addressing the complex issue of immigration, and we’re working closely with our international partners to ensure that we have a secure and humane border control system in place."
