Boeing Plane Forced to Abort Takeoff After Landing Gear Incident at Melbourne Airport
A terrifying incident occurred at Melbourne Airport when a Boeing plane, bound for Abu Dhabi, was forced to abort takeoff after its landing gear malfunctioned. The plane, operated by Etihad Airways, was carrying nearly 300 passengers when the incident occurred.
Video footage shows the plane surrounded by fire engines and emergency responders deploying firefighting foam as a precaution. A passenger on board the plane told local media that the pilot “had to slam on the emergency brakes” during takeoff.
The incident caused a significant delay in the plane’s departure, and it was ultimately stuck on the runway with two deflated wheels. All 289 passengers on board were safely evacuated and bussed to the terminal. There were no reports of injuries.
The incident led to disruptions in departures and arrivals at Melbourne Airport, but the airport spokesperson assured that other flights continued to operate normally, with one runway available for operations.
In a separate incident, two experienced pilots Mark White, 67, and Simon Peuterill, 69, were killed in a horror plane crash off the coast of Australia. The pilots were flying a single-engine plane from Coffs Harbour to South West Rocks when it lost control and crashed into the ocean. Witnesses reported hearing the plane’s engine struggling to maintain power before it went down. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
