Body discovered in Lady Bird Lake, Austin, Texas.

BODY FOUND IN SAME AUSTIN LAKE WHERE OTHER DECEASED INDIVIDUALS DISCOVERED IN RECENT MONTHS

A sixth body has been found in Lady Bird Lake in Austin, Texas, where a string of mysterious deaths has been reported throughout the year. The latest discovery was made on December 1, and the body, identified as 73-year-old Thi Lang Nguyen, showed no signs of trauma, leading police to rule out foul play.

However, the Austin Police Department is currently investigating the incident, and officials have not ruled out all possible causes of death.

The latest discovery joins a growing list of bodies found in the lake in 2024, including five others that have been reported since February. The lake’s proximity to nightclubs and bars has led authorities to attribute most of the deaths to accidental drowning.

The most recent body was found on December 1. In September, a man was found dead after going into the water near East Cesar Chavez and Nueces Streets. In February, a woman’s body was discovered in the water about 20 feet from the north shore, and in April, a fisherman spotted another person floating in the water.

In July, a man was found dead with blunt force trauma on a trail near Rainey Street, and in September, a body was found along a trail near the lake off Pleasant Valley Road.

Despite authorities’ efforts to quell community fears, questions and speculation have continued to run rampant. As the investigation into the latest body continues, officials will work to determine the cause of death.
