Bo Nix says Broncos’ trajectory remains on the rise despite tough rookie season ending in a loss to the Bills.

Denver’s Start to Buffalo as a Heavy Underdog Couldn’t Have Begun Better

The Denver Broncos’ venture into the playoffs as a heavy underdog got off to a strong start, with quarterback Luke Nix launching a 43-yard touchdown pass to Troy Franklin on the fifth play of the game. However, the early momentum was short-lived, as the team struggled to find consistency on offense and failed to run the ball effectively, particularly on first down, leading to numerous third-and-longs and pressure on Nix.

The Buffalo Bills, on the other hand, dominated on the ground, racking up 210 rushing yards, which contributed to significant disparities in the game’s final totals for offensive yards, plays, first downs, and time of possession. Despite his efforts, Nix was unable to find a consistent rhythm, leading to a 13-of-22 passing performance for 144 yards and a touchdown.

Head coach Sean Payton praised Nix’s performance, saying, “He hung in there, he battled. There’s some third downs he’ll want back; some plays he’ll want back. It’s tough to play that position when the opponent’s rushing the ball the way they are and you’re not having the consistency.”

Despite the loss, Payton acknowledged that the experience could serve as a valuable learning opportunity for the team. “We got beat today and, especially in the postseason, that’s always a bitter pill to swallow,” he said. “And yet, it will go down, and it’s got to fuel you and light a fire in the direction we need to go. One of the things we learned early on is we’ve got to find a way to play these games at home. That’s another thing that’s important.”

Quarterback Luke Nix concluded, “It’s a lot to grow from, a lot to build from. I’m excited to be here at this time because our trajectory is going up. I’m excited for a lot of things we have out in front of us. We have a lot to look forward to that I’m pumped about.”
