Buffalo’s Sixth Straight Playoff Run Secured, First Division Title Since 2009
The Buffalo Bills have secured their spot in the postseason, making it six consecutive years they will appear in the playoffs. Although they have yet to win a Super Bowl, this year’s team is one step closer to achieving the feat.
The Bills are the second team to clinch a playoff spot, following the Kansas City Chiefs’ win over the Raiders on Friday. However, Buffalo has the distinction of being the first team to win its division with five weeks remaining in the regular season, a feat last accomplished by the 2009 Colts.
Although their ticket to the postseason is secure, the Bills still have an opportunity to achieve an even higher seed. They are currently tied with the Kansas City Chiefs for the top spot in the AFC standings and would clinch the number one seed and a first-round bye with a strong finish. The head-to-head tiebreaker is in their favor, and they only have one team left on their schedule with a record over .500, the Detroit Lions in Week 15. The Bills’ next opponent is the Los Angeles Rams, with the certainty of another playoff spot secured.
