Bill Skarsgård on how playing a vampire in Nosferatu changed his career.

Bill Skarsgård Opens Up About the Toll of Playing Count Orlok in Nosferatu

Bill Skarsgård has revealed the grueling process of transforming into Count Orlok for the upcoming horror film Nosferatu, directed by Robert Eggers. The actor, known for his roles in IT and Deadpool, has spoken to Empire about the physical and mental demands of taking on the iconic vampire character.

According to Skarsgård, the transformation into Count Orlok was a challenging and draining experience. He worked on lowering his voice by an octave, and had to don prosthetics to complete the look. The actor also had to inhabit the character’s dark and occult persona, which took a toll on his mental state. “It was a relief when filming was over,” he said.

Skarsgård’s comments have raised the profile of the film, which has gained significant interest in recent weeks. The marketing campaign for Nosferatu has been relatively low-key, with few glimpses of the character. This strategy has been successful in generating buzz and anticipation, echoing the approach taken for the 2024 film Longlegs.

Nosferatu, which stars Lily-Rose Depp, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Willem Dafoe, is set to be released on December 25, 2024. With its impressive cast and Eggers’ track record, the film is expected to be a critical and commercial success. Considering Skarsgård’s dedication to the role, fans are eagerly awaiting the full release of the film.
