President Donald Trump Reveals Controversial Joe Biden’s Parting Letter

As he left the Oval Office, President Joe Biden left a letter to his successor, President Donald Trump, which was exclusively revealed by Fox News on Wednesday. According to Trump, the letter was found in the Resolute Desk by Fox News senior White House correspondent Peter Doocy, who asked if Biden had left a note.

The letter, addressed “Dear President Trump,” reads: “As I take leave of this sacred office I wish you and your family all the best in the next four years. The American people – and people around the world – look to this house for steadiness in the inevitable storms of history, and my prayer is that in the coming years will be a time of prosperity, peace, and grace for our nation. May God bless you and guide you as He has blessed and guided our beloved country since our founding.”

Trump described the letter as “a very nice letter” and “an inspirational-type letter. Enjoy it, do a good job. Important, very important. How important the job is.” He also praised Biden for writing a “positive letter,” saying he appreciated the gesture.

The tradition of leaving a letter to one’s successor dates back to 1989, when President Ronald Reagan left a note for President George H.W. Bush. Every president since then, including Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, Barack Obama, Trump, and Biden, has followed this tradition.

In a unusual twist, this was the first time a president wrote a letter to someone who is both his successor and predecessor, as Trump became the first president to serve nonconsecutive terms since Grover Cleveland in the late 1800s. Biden had previously acknowledged receiving a “very generous letter” from Trump, but has kept its contents private.
