NFL Extends Halftime Intermission for Beyoncé’s Christmas Performance
The NFL is giving Beyoncé fans a gift on Christmas by extending the halftime intermission for her performance during the Houston Texans and Baltimore Ravens matchup. According to TMZ Sports, Beyoncé will take the stage for about 20 minutes, which is longer than the normal halftime of 12-15 minutes.
The extended intermission is a nod to Beyoncé’s superstar status, although it won’t quite match the 25-minute halftime show typically seen at the Super Bowl. Netflix will be streaming both NFL games on Christmas, with the Kansas City Chiefs and Pittsburgh Steelers playing at 1 p.m. ET and the Ravens-Texans at 4:30 p.m. ET.
The two games are the first to be streamed exclusively on Netflix, and the platform will be under pressure to ensure a smooth streaming experience after issues plagued the Jake Paul-Mike Tyson fight in November. A lawsuit was even filed accusing Netflix of “breach of contract” for constant glitches during the fight.
Despite acknowledging the issues, Netflix executive Elizabeth Stone praised the launch team’s efforts to prioritize stream stability and called the event a “huge success.” The Paul-Tyson fight drew 108 million viewers, making it the “most-streamed sporting event ever.”
If Netflix cannot resolve its buffering issues by Christmas, it may leave NFL fans and Beyoncé’s devoted “BeyHive” fans feeling disappointed.
