Bashar al-Assad reportedly targeted in assassination bid, left struggling to breathe.

A Poisoning Attempt Made on Ousted Syrian Dictator Bashar al-Assad

A claim has been made that a poisoning attempt was made on ousted Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad, who has been under Vladimir Putin’s protection in Moscow since December 8 last year. According to reports, Assad, 59, was taken ill on Sunday and asked for medical help, after which he began to “cough violently and choke”. The source, claiming to be a former top spy in Russia, stated that there is every reason to believe an assassination attempt was made.

Assad was reportedly treated in his apartment and his condition stabilized on Monday. Tests allegedly showed that he had poison in his system, although no sources were cited and there has been no confirmation from Russia.
