Barron Trump Sparks Feud on Social Media for Shaking Hands with Joe Biden at Dad’s Inauguration

President Donald Trump’s Youngest Son, Barron, Wins Praise for Shaking Hands with Biden and Harris at Inauguration

President Donald Trump’s 18-year-old son, Barron, is receiving widespread praise online for shaking hands with former President Joe Biden and former Vice President Kamala Harris at his father’s inauguration on Monday. The event took place after the elder Trump took the oath of office as the 47th President of the United States.

Barron, a freshman at New York University, participated in a handful of inaugural festivities, including a church service and the inaugural parade. His handshake with Biden and Harris was met with praise from conservatives and others on social media, with many speculating that he could one day launch a political career.

Some online commenters joked that Barron whispered “you forgot to pardon yourself” to Biden during the quick exchange, while others pondered what the first son said to the two during the handshake.

Barron also attended the inaugural parade, where he received applause from Trump supporters and waved to the crowd alongside his father. In a show of support, President Trump praised his son’s efforts to rally the youth vote during the campaign trail, saying, “He knew the youth vote. You know we won the youth vote by 36 points.”

In his first day in office, President Trump signed at least 42 executive orders, memoranda, or proclamations, delivered three separate speeches, and fielded roughly an hour of media questions. The inauguration festivities were moved indoors due to frigid temperatures in the nation’s capital, with the event taking place in the Capitol Rotunda and the inaugural parade at the Capital One Arena.
