A Baltimore Ravens fan, Jack Callis, who was filmed assaulting two Washington Commanders fans in October, will remain in jail as he awaits his trial after a Maryland judge denied his bail for a second time.
Callis, 24, had turned himself in to the Baltimore Police on October 21, just days after the incident, which was caught on video and went viral on social media. The video showed Callis attacking the two men in the street, knocking one out and repeatedly punching the second victim and throwing him against a wall.
Callis was denied bail by District Judge LaTina Burse Greene in his first hearing on October 23, but was offered the option to be released to an inpatient treatment program with home detention. However, the inpatient care options presented at his second hearing were deemed not viable, and Baltimore Circuit Judge Yolanda A. Tanner denied his bail again.
Callis admitted to daily cocaine use for the past four years, including the day of the attack, and has a history of assaults. He faces one count of first-degree assault and three counts of second-degree assault, with maximum prison sentences of up to 25 years for the first-degree assault charge and 10 years for each second-degree assault charge.
