Baltimore Ravens defensive tackle Michael Pierce says the defense was “out of gas” when deciding not to risk an interception return.

Ravens DT Michael Pierce Explains No INT Return Attempt: ‘The Bus Was Out of Gas’

Ravens defensive tackle Michael Pierce has recently spoken about a play where the Ravens had a defensive interception but failed to attempt to return it, instead punting the ball away. According to Pierce, the reason behind this decision was due to a communication breakdown and lack of cohesion on the sidelines.

In his interview, Pierce explained that during the play, he was on the sideline while the other Ravens players were heading back to defend the end zone. He expressed his frustration towards the situation and emphasized that communication was the primary issue.

“This play, for us, is all about executing,” Pierce explained. “There were some miscues, people didn’t set the edge as they should’ve. The safety wasn’t out as he was supposed to. So, basically, the bus was out of gas. The train was coming off the track. We gotta figure out why this happened so we can learn from it.”
