Back in Action 2 Fumbles to Fix Oversight in 2025 Predecessor’s Whopping Plot Hole

Back in Action’s Massive Plot Hole: Who Helped Emily and Matt Change Their Identities?

Back in Action, the 2025 action comedy film, has set up a sequel, but it has also left a massive plot hole that needs to be addressed. The film’s story jumps 15 years into the future, revealing that Emily and Matt, the former CIA operatives, have assumed new identities and have two kids. However, the film never explains who helped them change their identities and give their kids real identities without being caught.

The biggest unanswered question is who helped Emily and Matt change their identities after their retirement. The film starts with a 15-year time jump, showing that Emily and Matt have assumed civilian identities and have had two kids. Although it could be assumed that Chuck and the CIA helped the spies pull this off, Chuck later reveals that he got fired due to the CIA not knowing where Emily and Matt went, meaning that the government didn’t have track of them.

Since Emily and Matt somehow have gotten new identities while also having kids who have IDs and social security numbers, someone in the government had to be helping them. If this wasn’t the case, Chuck and the CIA could have easily located them, creating this massive plot hole. For Back in Action’s story to be believable, Emily and Matt have to have had someone helping them, and Back in Action 2 needs to reveal who this person is.

Baron, the character who recruits Emily and Matt once again, will likely play a more active role in Back in Action 2. Since Baron is helping the family assume new identities and return to their lives before the events of the first film, this plot hole won’t be an issue in the story of Back in Action 2. However, it still remains a problem with the first film.

The film’s ending sets up an exciting story for Back in Action 2, with Emily and Matt being called back into the mission field by Baron to help the CIA tie up a loose end. The sequel will likely address this plot hole and provide answers to the questions left unanswered in the first film.
