Former Cleveland Cavaliers Star Takes Swipe at Trump Amidst Aviation Crisis
Former Cleveland Cavaliers star Austin Carr, who now works as a TV analyst for the team, took a swipe at President Donald Trump on Thursday in a post congratulating the team’s players who made the All-Star Game. Carr, known as “Mr. Cavalier,” wrote “Cavs have three all-star, congrats, well deserved GO CAVS #ImpeachTrumpNOW” in a since-deleted post. He did not specify why he wanted to impeach the president.
The 76-year-old Carr later tried to explain what happened in a follow-up post. The swipe came after Trump addressed reporters from the White House briefing room earlier in the day, where he spoke about the recent aviation crisis. Nearly 70 people were presumed dead after an American Airlines regional jet collided with a U.S. Army helicopter near Reagan National Airport in Washington, D.C.
In his comments, Trump set his sights on DEI standards at the Federal Aviation Administration and highlighted efforts by the Biden administration to lower aviation standards. He also emphasized the need for high intellect and psychological superiority among air traffic controllers, saying “We have to have our smartest people. It doesn’t matter what they look like, how they speak, who they are. What matters is intellect, talent. They have to be talented geniuses.”
Trump later attributed the crash to a “confluence of bad decisions that were made.”
