Art the Clown Menaces as Mickey Mouse in Chilling Steamboat Willie Horror Twist.

Art the Clown actor David Howard Thornton will play a terrifying role in the upcoming horror movie Screamboat, a slasher film based on the public domain version of Disney’s Mickey Mouse. The movie follows a group of passengers on a ferry ride that turns into a hunting ground for a killer mouse.

The film is written and directed by Steven LaMorte, who is also known for his work on the 2022 horror movie The Mean One. The movie has been pushed back from its initial release date of January 24, 2025, to April 2025.

A first-look image of Thornton as the killer mouse, Mickey Mouse, has been released, showing him wearing a silver Mickey Mouse costume with a bloodied harpoon. The image is inspired by the black-and-white Steamboat Willie short.

The movie also features a talented cast, including Tyler Posey, Kailey Hyman, Allison Pittel, Amy Schumacher, Jesse Posey, Rumi C. Jean-Louis, Jesse Kove, Jarlath Conroy, and Charles Edwin Powell. Brian Quinn and Joe DeRossa are set to make cameo appearances. The film’s practical effects are being managed by Quantum Creation, which is bringing the horror version of the mouse to life.

In Screamboat, a late-night ferry ride in New York City turns into a harrowing battle for survival as the mischievous mouse transforms into a monstrous danger. The film is set to release in April 2025, with a new release date.
