Arkansas player breaks silence amid ridicule over alleged violent on-field incident.

Arkansas Razorbacks offensive lineman Fernando Carmona was caught on video stepping on the ankle of a Texas Tech player during the Liberty Bowl, leading to widespread criticism and ridicule. Carmona has since apologized for his actions, saying he allowed his emotions to get the better of him.

The incident occurred during the fourth quarter of the Razorbacks’ 39-26 win over the Red Raiders, with Texas Tech’s C.J. Baskerville being the victim of Carmona’s actions. Baskerville, the Red Raiders’ leading tackler, accused Carmona of committing a “dirty” play and expressed his frustration on social media, stating that Carmona’s actions led to immediate pain and telling him to “do better.”

Carmona, a junior, transferred to Arkansas for the 2023-24 season after spending the previous season with the San Jose State Spartans. He has since apologized for his actions, saying he has nothing but respect for Texas Tech and the game of football, and that he will learn from the incident.
