Anya Taylor-Joy Becomes Black Cat in Exciting New Spider-Man 4 Art
The Marvel Cinematic Universe’s next Spider-Man film, Spider-Man 4, is expected to arrive in 2026, with work still being completed on the script. Although few details have emerged about the story, recent rumors suggest that Anya Taylor-Joy could be playing Black Cat in the upcoming film.
A fan art posted on Instagram by @arifinity_ shows Taylor-Joy in Black Cat’s classic costume, complete with goggles, a sleek black design, and white fur. The modern take on the character’s iconic look fits well with the MCU’s style.
Spider-Man 4’s storyline, which has Peter Parker abandoning his regular life to become fully Spider-Man, makes Black Cat’s inclusion more likely. As Felicia Hardy, Black Cat lives a similar double life as Peter Parker, making her a potential love interest for the web-slinger.
The news is not surprising, given that Spider-Man franchise producer Amy Pascal recently expressed interest in Taylor-Joy playing Black Cat, although he claimed it was too early for the casting to be confirmed.
Taylor-Joy’s involvement in Spider-Man 4 could depend on her busy schedule, as she will also be filming Dune: Messiah around the time the MCU film goes before cameras. However, if her schedule permits, the actress would be an excellent choice for Black Cat, given her experience playing Magik in The New Mutants and her dramatic skills in various roles.
While Taylor-Joy has a decent chance of playing Black Cat, it remains to be seen if the character will even appear in Spider-Man 4. Sydney Sweeney has long been fancasted as the character, and both actresses would be exciting in the role.
With Spider-Man 4’s production underway, fans can expect more updates on the film’s cast and storyline in the coming months.
