Antioch High School students recall chaos as shooting unfolds, victim’s family shares harrowing account.

A student at Antioch High School in Tennessee described the chaotic scenes that unfolded during the fatal attack that took place at the school on Wednesday. The student said that he and his classmates were in the cafeteria when they heard gunfire and saw people getting shot on the ground.

“I saw people getting shot on the ground, bleeding,” the student told WSMV. “We ran behind the garbage cans and then we ran to a side door to flee the cafeteria.”

The student also described the shooter as “a monster, just killing people.” Another student said that the alleged gunman was a quiet and hardworking student who was in ROTC with him.

The shooting left one student, 16-year-old Josselin Corea Escalante, dead and another student wounded. The shooter, a 17-year-old student, turned the gun on himself after the attack.

The motive behind the attack is still unknown, but investigators are looking into the shooter’s online activity and social media posts, which were described as “very concerning.”

The family of the victim, Josselin Corea Escalante, has spoken out about her death, with her father saying that “Every day I told her how much I loved her. It’s not fair.” Her aunt added that she was a “very calm girl and well-behaved” who loved her parents and family.
