Alex Bruesewitz, a key strategist for President-elect Donald Trump’s 2024 campaign, collapsed mid-speech at the New York Young Republican Club Gala on Sunday. The sudden collapse stunned attendees and prompted an outpouring of concern.
Bruesewitz, who heads the consultancy firm X Strategies, was an honored guest at the event and was speaking to the crowd when he began slurring his words before pausing and falling to his side. The crowd gasped in shock, and frantic voices filled the room.
While the cause of the collapse remains unclear, other speakers assured attendees that Bruesewitz was receiving medical attention and was “responsive backstage.” MAGA commentator Jack Posobiec, who was on the scene, reported that Bruesewitz was in good spirits afterward, joking that the only thing he asked him was, “Did it look cool?”
Trump addressed the episode in a phone call to the gala later in the evening, expressing his support for Bruesewitz. “I know that Alex is going to be fine because he’s a tough son of a gun,” Trump said. “I want to say hello to Alex because he’s a very special guy.”
