Moment plane’s wing bursts into flames during horror landing after tire fails
A passenger plane was seen spewing flames and sparks from its wing as it made a terrifying landing at Halifax Stanfield International Airport in Canada. The Air Canada flight, which was traveling from St John’s to Halifax, experienced a tire failure during landing, causing the aircraft to careen along the runway at a 20-degree angle.
The terrifying footage shows the wing of the plane erupting into a ball of fire as it descends onto the runway. Passengers can be seen holding on for dear life as the plane shakes violently and fire spreads throughout the cabin.
Fortunately, there were no reported fatalities or major injuries as a result of the incident. The flight came to a stop on the runway, and passengers were off-loaded by bus.
This was one of two separate landing incidents that occurred on the same night. In Norway, a KLM Royal Dutch Airlines Boeing 737-800 experienced a suspected hydraulics failure shortly after taking off from Oslo Airport, forcing the pilots to make an emergency landing at Sandefjord Torp Airport. The plane skidded off the runway and came to a stop on the grassy area adjacent to it, but there were no reported injuries.
The incident in Canada is being investigated, and the airport has since reopened. The timing of the incident is particularly significant, as it comes just hours after a devastating plane crash in South Korea left at least 179 people feared dead. The South Korean jet, a Boeing 737-800, crashed on its belly at Muan International Airport after its landing gear failed, and the official death toll is expected to continue to rise as rescue efforts continue.
