Luigi Mangione, the alleged UnitedHealthcare CEO killer, received over 140 messages during his 10-day stint in a Pennsylvania prison. The 26-year-old received 54 emails, 87 physical letters, and 163 deposits to fund his commissary purchases during his time at Huntingdon State Correctional Institute.
Among the messages received were sweet nothings and admirers, with some fans expressing their devotion to the accused killer. A fan went as far as offering herself to Mangione, claiming she could chat with him in jail. Another fan sent him a letter and photos from her birthday party, stating it felt “cathartic and sexy” to want to do something and then DO it. Some fans even praised Mangione’s actions, claiming he did not commit a wrong by killing a father of two, Brian Thompson.
While some fans were more extreme, others showed support and appreciation for Mangione, with one woman, Lindsy Floyd, sending him a letter and stating she planned to continue to send him letters at least once a month during his trials. Floyd, a prison reform advocate, offered Mangione advice on surviving time in prison, having herself spent 26 months in prison for negligent homicide while driving drunk.
