Jim Acosta is Expected to Exit CNN
Jim Acosta, a prominent anchor at CNN, is expected to depart the network after being removed from the morning programming lineup. The move, which coincided with Donald Trump’s return to power, was made by CNN’s chief executive, Mark Thompson. Acosta had anchored the 10am show to great ratings success over the last 11 months, often seeing higher viewership than prime time programs.
Acosta was offered the option of anchoring a show from midnight to 2am ET, which would have aired during a time when cable news viewership is at its lowest levels. The program would have been broadcast on the West Coast, but Acosta has decided not to take the offer.
