Aaron Taylor-Johnson Reflects on Playing Quicksilver in the MCU
Aaron Taylor-Johnson, the British actor who played Pietro Maximoff/Quicksilver in Avengers: Age of Ultron, opened up about his experience playing the character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Speaking with IMDb, Taylor-Johnson discussed his brief stint in the MCU, where his character sacrificed himself to save Clint Barton/Hawkeye and never reappeared.
Taylor-Johnson also talked about Evan Peters, who played a version of Quicksilver in X-Men: Days of Future Past, a year before Taylor-Johnson’s iteration. Despite the two actors playing the same character in different franchises, Taylor-Johnson praised Peters’ take on the role, saying he had a huge admiration for it. He also praised Elizabeth Olsen, who played his on-screen sister Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch, calling her a “phenomenal actor, absolute star, and wonderful person.”
Taylor-Johnson expressed pride in his time as Quicksilver, saying it was a “sort of pinch yourself moment” to have been a part of the MCU. He also touched on the concept of being made into an action figure, saying it was “kind of mind-blowing” and “very overwhelming.” Despite the “highs and lows” of fame, Taylor-Johnson seemed satisfied with his performance as Quicksilver.
When asked about his experience playing the character, Taylor-Johnson spoke positively about the opportunity to be a part of the MCU. He seemed to have a strong admiration for the franchise and his fellow actors, including Elizabeth Olsen.
