A Lifetime Lost, Then Found: The Surprising Return of His Beloved Dog.

He thought his dog was gone forever. Seven years later, the phone rang. A number he didn’t recognize appeared on the caller ID. A voice on the other end asked for him by name, and his heart skipped a beat. “Is this your number?” the voice asked. He hesitated, his mind racing. Something about the tone of the voice seemed familiar. “Yes, who is this?” he demanded. The voice on the other end paused, as if collecting his thoughts. “It’s me,” he said, his voice trembling. “Your dog. You forgot, I was walked into the woods behind our house when I was nine. My collar had no identification, and I got lost. You searched everywhere for me but never found me. I was found by another dog’s owner and taken in.” The man was shocked, his mind filled with questions. “How did you find your way back to us?” he asked. The dog replied, “I never forgot where I lived. I always remembered the smell of your lawn, so I kept coming back. I kept sniffing around until I found you. I’m sorry it took so long.” Tears of joy filled the man’s eyes as he asked, “Can you come home now?” “Yes, I’m home,” his dog replied, overjoyed.
