A 2022 horror prequel’s successful audience reception led to the casting of a romantic drama film.

Isabelle Fuhrman and Julia Stiles Reunite for Romantic Drama Wish You Were Here

Actress Isabelle Fuhrman is set to take on her first leading role in a romance film, Wish You Were Here, directed by Julia Stiles. The movie is an adaptation of Renée Carlino’s novel and follows Charlotte, a woman who has a deeply emotional night with a man, only for his disappearance to lead to a powerful reveal.

Fuhrman and Stiles previously worked together on the horror film Orphan and its prequel, First Kill, with Stiles impressed by Fuhrman’s talent and work ethic on set. Stiles began adapting the script for Wish You Were Here during the COVID-19 pandemic, and Fuhrman was her top choice for the lead role.

In an interview with ScreenRant, Stiles praised Fuhrman’s dedication and stamina on set, stating that she saw her as the perfect choice for the part. Fuhrman, who was 23 during the filming of Orphan and played an 11-year-old, was also impressed by Stiles’ leadership and ability to bring out the best in her co-stars.

The collaboration between the two actresses is an exciting development in their careers, with Fuhrman set to expand beyond her horror roots and explore the romantic-drama genre. Stiles’ directorial debut has added a new layer to her established acting career, and the mutual respect and history between the two actresses make this reunion feel both natural and remarkable.

Wish You Were Here marks a turning point in Fuhrman’s career, allowing her to showcase her versatility and reach a different audience. The film is set to release on January 17, 2025, and promises to be a poignant and emotional journey as Charlotte searches for fulfillment and makes the most of her final days with Adam.
