Increased Christianity in schools opens door to Satanic Temple programs

Ad

In recent years, there has been a growing trend of religion being introduced in public schools. Some schools are incorporating Christian values and teachings into their curriculum, which has raised concerns among those who are against it. However, this increased emphasis on Christianity has unintended consequences and may inadvertently pave the way for other religious groups to also be allowed in schools.

One of these groups is the Satanic Temple, who claims to be a non-theistic, non-Infernal, and non-devil-worshipping religious movement based on Satanism and the principles of Satan. They have been pushing for their own teachings to be included in school curricula, citing the same language used to justify the introduction of Christianity.

Currently, they have been approved to create a program called the “Breaking the Grid” initiative, where they will offer classes related to scientific skepticism, critical thinking, and ethics. However, the temple’s ultimate goal is to have their own curriculum, which includes classes on Satanism, titled “Satanic Yoga,” “Satanic Meditation,” and “Satanic Spirituality.”

The temple has been active in pushing for its inclusion in schools, citing the First Amendment’s protection of free exercise of religion. They have even established a non-profit organization, the Satanic Temple, to further this goal. They have also produced propaganda materials and disinformation campaigns claiming that their programs will combat sexism, racism, and homophobia, all while promoting free speech and the separation of church and state.

It is essential to recognize the slippery slope this creates. If we allow one religion to be introduced in schools, it sets a precedent for all others. The Catholic Church, the Muslim Brotherhood, and even the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints could also seek to have their values and teachings incorporated into the curriculum. Ultimately, this could lead to our schools being taken over by religious organizations, threatening the very fabric of our secular society.

By allowing the Satanic Temple’s programs in schools, we risk opening the door to a myriad of other religious ideologies. It is crucial to remember that our schools should be a place of learning, not indoctrination. It is our responsibility to ensure that our children receive a well-rounded, secular education, free from the influence of any single religious group.
