New York Police Released New Photos of Person Sought in Connection with UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson’s Killing
The New York Police Department (NYPD) released two new photos of a person being sought in connection with the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson on Saturday. The new images are part of a series of photos of the same individual wanted for questioning in Wednesday’s killing.
One of the photos shows the person through the partition of what appears to be a New York City taxi, wearing a blue medical mask and a black hoodie. In the other photo, the man is shown walking alongside a car while wearing the same blue mask and a dark-colored puffer jacket with the hood pulled over his head.
The NYPD has been able to track some of the person’s movements by taxi, and officials believe they may have left the state after the killing. Authorities are looking into whether the man traveled to New York City from Atlanta last month by Greyhound bus, and are working to determine if he used a fake ID to rent a room at a hostel on Manhattan’s Upper West Side.
Police are offering a combined $60,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the gunman. The FBI, Crime Stoppers, and the NYPD are all contributing to the reward. The investigation is ongoing, and no charges have been filed yet.
Thompson was gunned down outside the New York Hilton Midtown hotel on his way to UnitedHealth Group’s investor conference on Wednesday morning. He was not traveling with security and was shot at least once in the back and once in the right calf. Police have determined that the killing was a premeditated, preplanned targeted attack, and that the victim was specifically targeted.
