Catholic Priest Says He’s Seen Real-Life Instances of Exorcism, Claims to Have Confronted the Devil
Father Carlos Martins has been a priest for 20 years, during which time he has performed many exorcisms to cleanse people possessed by demonic entities. In his new book, “The Exorcist Files: True Stories About the Reality of Evil and How to Defeat It,” Father Martins shares some of his most harrowing cases, which he claims demonstrate the reality of demonic possession.
One of the first cases that left a lasting impression on him was that of a middle-aged woman who was possessed by a demon. During the exorcism, the woman levitated, her facial features changed dramatically, and she displayed an aversion to God. Father Martins described another case where a man was restrained by Father Martins’ assistant, but the man managed to flip and land 10 feet away, unharmed.
He also recounts the story of a woman who was obsessed with having a baby, but ended up collecting dead insects and animals to try and achieve this goal. Father Martins eventually performed an exorcism, and the woman was cleansed.
Another notable case was that of a firefighter who was experiencing blackouts and unexplained injuries. Father Martins performed the Rite of Exorcism, and the man was eventually cleansed of the demon that had taken hold of him.
In his book, Father Martins also shares his personal encounters with the Devil and his minions, which left him with a deep sense of unease and a strong sense of the presence of evil. He notes that his work as an exorcist has not been without its challenges, and he has faced skepticism from some who do not believe in the existence of demonic possession.
Scientific explanations have been offered for some of the behaviors attributed to demonic possession, including psychological disorders, trauma, and cultural beliefs. However, Father Martins is convinced that the cases he has witnessed are real and are caused by the work of demons. In his book, he outlines some of the methods he uses to identify and combat demonic possession, including the importance of moral certainty in identifying possession and the use of holy water and the cross in exorcisms.
