Many believe that the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year award is being contested between Jayden Daniels of the Washington Commanders and Bo Nix of the Denver Broncos, but Los Angeles Chargers star safety Derwin James Jr. has thrown his support behind wide receiver Ladd McConkey. James made his endorsement on FanDuel TV’s “Up & Adams” with Kay Adams, stating, “We got Ladd McConkey. That’s the Rookie of the Year. Ladd McConkey at receiver.”

McConkey, who leads the Chargers with 58 catches for 815 yards, has emerged as a top receiver in Greg Roman’s offense. James praised McConkey, saying, “Ladd’s a great pro. Every day he shows up to work, he’s got his priorities in line off the field. I feel like every day he wants to be great and give it all to the team. Love Ladd so much.”

James also highlighted the performances of quarterback Justin Herbert, rookie right tackle Joe Alt, and left tackle Rashawn Slater. However, McConkey’s impressive stats and potential future growth make him a dark horse candidate for the award. McConkey trails only Budding Las Vegas Raiders star Brock Bowers, who leads all rookie receivers with 84 catches on 113 targets, in receiving yards. With five games remaining in the season, McConkey still has a chance to surpass Bowers and potentially force a three-way battle with Daniels and Nix for the Rookie of the Year honor.
