Fox News host Jesse Watters discussed President-elect Donald Trump’s plan to reform the federal government, calling it a “blowtorch” to Washington, D.C. Watters pointed out that the government has become bloated and inefficient, with a national debt of $36 trillion and only 1% of government workers putting in a traditional 9-to-5 schedule.
According to a new Senate report, only 6% of federal workers go into the office five days a week, and almost 90% of government office buildings are empty. Watters joked about a Veterans Affairs manager who took a picture of himself working from a bubble bath, calling it “my office for the next hour.”
Trump’s plan, Watters said, is to cut $2 trillion from the budget and streamline the government by making it run more like a corporation. He cited Trump’s meeting with Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg, as well as executives from big pharma companies like Pfizer, as evidence of his efforts to reform the government.
Watters praised Trump’s approach, saying that working from home is not working hard enough and that it’s time for government employees to “pack their bags.” He also noted that Trump’s efforts to reform the government are a departure from the approach of his predecessor, Joe Biden, who spent 40% of his presidency on vacation.
