[A California man, Shenghua Wen, has been arrested and charged with helping the North Korean regime prepare for an attack by obtaining restricted weapons and military-grade technology. Wen, a Chinese national, allegedly worked with North Korean officials to obtain the items, including weapons, ammunition, and military uniforms, with the North Korean government paying him $2 million to facilitate the illegal activities.

Wen, who entered the US as a student in 2012 and overstayed his visa, established an export company in Texas and used it to procure and transport the items to the Los Angeles area for subsequent shipment to North Korea. Authorities seized various items, including 50,000 rounds of ammunition, sophisticated chemical detection equipment, and a tool used for detecting listening devices, during a search of Wen’s home.

The FBI discovered numerous messages on Wen’s cell phone, including images of firearms and electronic devices, as well as messages with North Korean co-conspirators. If convicted, Wen faces up to 20 years in prison. The case is a reminder of the serious consequences of illegal activities, including the potential for harm to the United States and its allies.
