President-Elect Donald Trump Announces New US Ambassador to the UK, Disappointing New York Jets Fans

President-elect Donald Trump announced on Monday that he will name billionaire investment banker Warren A. Stephens as the U.S. ambassador to the United Kingdom. Trump made the announcement on his platform, Truth Social, stating that Stephens “always dreamed of serving the United States full time” and will now have the opportunity to do so as the top diplomat representing the U.S. to one of America’s most cherished and beloved allies.

The announcement was met with disappointment from New York Jets fans, who had been hoping Trump would tap team owner Woody Johnson for the position. Johnson held the role from 2017 to 2021, and many fans expected him to be named to the position again.

Despite their hopes, the Jets’ record has been disappointing, with a 3-9 record this season and a lack of success since 2010. The team has only made it to the playoffs once in the past 15 years. Fans took to social media to express their disappointment, but it’s possible that Johnson could be appointed to another position in the future.

Trump’s announcement of Stephens as the new US ambassador to the UK marks another addition to his growing list of administration nominations. The Senate will now be required to confirm the selection.
