President-elect Trump Reacts to Hunter Biden’s Pardon

President-elect Trump weighed in on President Biden’s surprise decision to pardon his son Hunter on Sunday night. In a Truth Social post, Trump questioned why Hunter’s pardon did not include the January 6 protesters who have been imprisoned for years.

Trump also reacted through his incoming White House communications chief, Steven Cheung, who condemned the Justice Department’s prosecution of President Trump as part of a broader pattern of “weaponizing the justice system.” Cheung’s statement claimed that President-elect Trump will work to fix the justice system and restore due process for all Americans.

In a statement defending his decision, President Biden claimed that Hunter was unfairly treated by prosecutors and faced selective and unfair prosecution. Biden argued that Hunter, who was convicted of multiple felony charges, was simply trying to make a late payment on his taxes as a result of his substance abuse struggles.

The decision to pardon Hunter has raised eyebrows across the country, with many critics questioning President Biden’s motives. This is not the first controversy surrounding Hunter’s legal woes, with President-elect Trump previously commenting that he wouldn’t “do anything that would be overt” regarding Hunter’s cases.

Biden had previously denied any intent to pardon his son after Hunter was convicted earlier this year, stating that he would abide by the jury’s decision. With the pardon now in place, President-elect Trump is likely to continue to pressure President Biden on the matter, especially given his comments on the January 6 protesters.
