Health Experts Condemn TikTok Trend of Eating Erectile Dysfunction Drug-Laced Honey Packs Before Sex

Health experts are speaking out against a new trend on TikTok that encourages men to eat honey packets containing an erectile dysfunction drug before having sex. The product, called Royal Honey VIP, has gone viral for its reported impact on sexual performance.

One student at Arizona State University recently shared a TikTok video showcasing the product’s use on campus, joking that “a man never reveals his secrets.” Another student claimed he had taken four of the packer in one night, prompting the interviewer to respond: “That’s not normal, is it?”

However, health professionals have warned against using the product, as it contains a drug that could interact with common medication. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) previously issued a public notification in 2018, stating that Royal Honey VIP contained “potentially harmful hidden ingredients” that could lead to dangerously low blood pressure.

The FDA discovered that the product contained tadalafil, an ingredient in an FDA-approved prescription drug for erectile dysfunction, which is not disclosed on the product’s packaging or promotion. This could interact with nitrates found in some prescription drugs, such as nitroglycerin, and lower blood pressure to unsafe levels.

Men with diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or heart disease often take nitrates, and the FDA warns that these products could have serious consequences.

In a similar incident in 2022, the FDA warned against Kingdom Honey products that contained sildenafil, the active ingredient in Viagra. Both products are produced by Shopaax, and the FDA recommends that consumers report adverse events or side effects related to the use of these products.

The FDA advises consumers to exercise caution when purchasing products marketed as dietary supplements, as they may contain hidden ingredients that can be harmful.
