COVID-19: Argentina’s Health Ministry Announces a New Travel Ban for Brazil
The Ministry of Health of Argentina has announced a new travel ban for passengers arriving from Brazil, in an effort to curb the spread of COVID-19.
The decision comes after a significant surge in cases reported in Brazil, which has become one of the countries hardest hit by the pandemic.
Starting Saturday, all flights from Brazil to Argentina will be suspended, with exceptions made for international cargo transport, scientific visa holders, and Argentine citizens who are needed for humanitarian or exceptional reasons.
The measure is aimed at preventing the virus from being brought into the country and facilitating the spread within the country.
This is not the first time Argentina has taken action against travel from Brazil, as the country had previously banned travel from the neighboring nation in March.
Despite the ban, some worry that the measure may not be enough to contain the spread of the virus, as many people have already traveled between the two countries.
Argentina’s move follows similar travel restrictions imposed by other countries in the region, such as Chile, Peru, and Ecuador, all of which have also been affected by the pandemic.
The ban is indefinite, and there is no clear indication of when it will be lifted.
