Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Gardner Minshew is out for the remainder of the season with a broken collarbone, head coach Antonio Pierce announced on Monday. Minshew left Sunday’s 29-19 loss to the Denver Broncos late in the fourth quarter after being sacked by Broncos linebackers Cody Barton and Jonathon Cooper, and was replaced by backup quarterback Desmond Ridder.
Ridder, who replaced Minshew, scrambled for 3 yards on second down and then fumbled after being sacked by Broncos linebacker Nik Bonitto. He later returned for the final drive, completing five passes for 64 yards.
Aidan O’Connell, who is on injured reserve with a broken thumb, could be available to start when the Raiders visit the Kansas City Chiefs on Friday. O’Connell has started two games this season, but has been out since fracturing his thumb in Week 7.
