Department of Homeland Security Sec. Kristi Noem and Fox News host Laura Ingraham got into a tense exchange over migrant raids on her primetime show. Noem, who oversees Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in her role as head of DHS, appeared on the show wearing a full Border Patrol uniform, including a green hat and top, and full makeup, leading some to label her the “ICE Barbie.”
The two engaged in a heated conversation, with Ingraham asking Noem repeatedly if sanctuary city leaders would face repercussions for not complying with Trump’s immigration orders. Despite being asked three times, Noem dodged the question, saying, “Yeah, we are still going into their communities… The federal government has the authority to go in and to make their communities safer, especially those that are perpetuating danger.”
Ingraham grew frustrated with Noem’s vague answers, interjecting, “But will you go after these officials who get in your way? Will there be repercussions for them personally?” Noem eventually responded, “Listen, Laura: Nobody is above the law. Of course, we will. But that’s up to President Trump. President Trump gives us the direction. I don’t sit here and make up a decision on what to do. I follow the law. That’s my job.”
Ingraham’s persistent questioning led Noem to ultimately indicate that the Department of Homeland Security would take action against sanctuary city leaders who interfere with federal law enforcement, stating, “We treat everybody the same in this country now that we have President Trump in the White House, and he is going to give us direction on how we are going to go after these individuals.”
