Two Migrant Suspects in Custody in Connection with Chicago Man’s Fatal Assault

A 63-year-old man, George Levin, was found dead in his home in the Norwood Park neighborhood of Chicago late Sunday, and two migrant suspects are now in custody in connection with his death. According to Chicago police, Levin’s body was found bound with duct tape near his face and mouth, and an autopsy determined that he died of multiple injuries related to assault.

The two suspects, an adult from Venezuela and an adult from Ecuador, are believed to have met Levin on a gay dating app. The suspects allegedly stole items from him during their encounter, which may have been a targeted robbery attack.

One of the suspects in custody was arrested on January 12 for allegedly trying to lure children, but was released the next day. The second suspect was arrested during a large immigration enforcement operation led by U.S. border czar Tom Homan and the Justice Department in Chicago on Sunday.

The operation resulted in the arrests of convicted murderers, aggravated sex offenders, members of the Tren de Aragua gang, and more. The high-profile operation was a major crackdown on illegal immigration, which raised concerns about whether it was a targeted attack on a specific community or a broader law enforcement action.

Levin lived in the lower level of a home he shared with his sister in a quiet neighborhood that is traditionally a popular choice for law enforcement and city workers. The motive behind his death is still unclear, but the suspects are being held in custody pending further investigation and possible charges.
