Stephen King is renowned for his dark and suspenseful works, often incorporating elements of horror, gore, and the supernatural. His renowned stories have been adapted into films and TV shows, captivating audiences worldwide. Many of these adaptations feature intense and gory scenes, which have become iconic in the world of horror.

King’s works have been adapted for the screen for decades, with recent examples including The Life of Chuck, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. Additionally, upcoming projects include movies for The Running Man and The Long Walk, as well as a TV series, IT: Welcome to Derry, featuring Bill SkarsgÃ¥rd reprising his role as Pennywise.

A new King adaptation, The Monkey, has caused a stir, with multiple networks refusing to air its promotional teasers due to its excessive violence. Despite this, the film’s trailer will be released on February 21, featuring a talented cast, including Adam Scott, Theo James, Elijah Wood, Tatiana Maslany, and director Osgood Perkins.

The Monkey’s violence is so intense that networks have deemed it “not suitable for our audiences, even with restrictions.” The film’s studio, NEON, has shared screenshots of email exchanges with these networks, citing “excessive violence” as the reason for the rejections.

This unexpected outcome may actually work in the film’s favor, as die-hard horror fans will likely be intrigued by the graphic content. A similar strategy was employed by Terrifier 3, which proudly touted its excessive blood and gore, resulting in a successful box office performance.

The Monkey’s release is imminent, with a theatrical release date set for February 21, and a runtime of 98 minutes. With its intense violence and suspense, it will be interesting to see how audiences respond to this Stephen King adaptation.
