The Old Guard 2 Finally Gets a Release Date: July 2, 2025
Netflix has finally confirmed the release date for The Old Guard 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the 2020 action film. The movie will hit screens on July 2, 2025, after years of uncertainty and delays.
The announcement was accompanied by a new behind-the-scenes teaser, which gives fans a glimpse into the action-packed sequel. The video features Charlize Theron, who reprises her role as Andy, the leader of a team of immortal mercenaries, performing some of her own stunts, including a knife fight and hanging off the side of a helicopter.
The Old Guard 2 is an adaptation of the graphic novel series by Greg Rucka and Leandro Fernández. The sequel will feature “insane action,” new cast members, and “one shocking return,” according to Netflix.
Principal photography for the film was completed in 2022, but the project was delayed due to a leadership change at Netflix and the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes in 2023. However, with the release date confirmation, the delays are now behind the film, and there’s no danger of it being shelved.
The Old Guard 2 is directed by Victoria Mahoney and stars Charlize Theron, with a screenplay by Greg Rucka. The film is produced by A.J. Dix, Charlize Theron, Denis L. Stewart, Gina Prince-Bythewood, Beth Kono, Dana Goldberg, David Ellison, and Don Granger.
