The Buffalo Bills fell short in their AFC Championship game against the Kansas City Chiefs, losing 32-29. Despite putting themselves in a position to win, they failed to convert their final opportunity to tie or take the lead, turning it over on downs. General Manager Brandon Beane reflected on the game, acknowledging that the Chiefs played the better game and that the Bills’ repeated failures against Kansas City are due in part to facing a dynasty.

Beane pointed out that the Bills have averaged 13-14 wins over the past five years, including the playoffs, and that they have made significant progress. However, he also acknowledged that the team’s failures against the Chiefs are a reality that they must face. He emphasized that the team will not make any rash decisions and will instead use the offseason to “reset, recalibrate, and shape what the next team will look like.”

Beane also defended the team’s fourth-down conversion attempt earlier in the fourth quarter, which was stopped short of a first down. He believes that quarterback Josh Allen gained enough yardage to convert the down, but the play was ultimately ruled in favor of the Chiefs.

The Bills’ goal remains winning a Super Bowl, and they will likely have to defeat the Chiefs to achieve that goal. Sunday’s result only served as a reminder of this reality, and the team will use the offseason to regroup and prepare for another shot at the championship.
