The small plane that crashed in a rural area of Oregon on Tuesday was headed to Portland International Airport, according to flight tracking data. The plane, a single-engine Cessna 172, took off from the airport in Redding, California, and was expected to land in Portland around 1:30 pm local time. However, the plane never made it to its destination and crashed in a field near the town of Merlin, Oregon, about 30 miles north of Medford.
