Pat Mahomes Sr., the father of two-time NFL MVP Patrick Mahomes, is back in the spotlight after a recent social media post sparked controversy. The post, made on his X account, appeared to reference the Buffalo Bills, saying “Today is a great day to not be from Buffalo” after the Kansas City Chiefs’ victory over the Bills in the AFC championship game.
However, Mahomes Sr. has since claimed that he was the victim of a social media hack, stating on his Instagram account, “Haven’t been on Twitter/X in years. My account was hacked and I do not have access to it. Pls disregard any tweets from @pmahomes.”
The account in question had been moderately active over the past several months, with posts referencing MLB icon Willie Mays and featuring pictures of Mahomes Sr. wearing his Minnesota Twins jersey and his son’s Kansas City Chiefs jersey as a baby.
This is not the first time Mahomes Sr. has made headlines. In August 2024, he pleaded guilty to a charge of driving while intoxicated and was sentenced to five years probation, with a condition of attending Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and serving 10 days in jail. He was also arrested in February 2024, during which he was seen pleading with officers and mentioning his son’s name multiple times.
Mahomes Sr. has since apologized for the recent social media post, stating on Instagram, “Sorry for the misunderstanding. Would never.” He has also acknowledged that his account was hacked, stating on Instagram, “Attention: Patrick Mahomes Sr.’s X account has been compromised. The Mahomes family holds the utmost respect for the Buffalo Bills organization and the #BillsMafia fan base. We are actively working to resolve this issue. Thank you for your understanding.”
