Trump Signs Executive Order to Build American Iron Dome
President Donald Trump has signed an executive order to build a next-generation missile defense shield to protect the United States from aerial attack. The system, known as the Iron Dome, is a high-tech missile defense system developed by Israel to intercept thousands of rockets.
Under the executive order, Trump’s administration will build an Iron Dome-style system to protect the United States from missile attacks from foreign enemies. The system is designed to detect and destroy incoming missiles at high speeds, making it a vital component in the country’s national security strategy.
The United States has contributed over $2.6 billion to the development of Israel’s Iron Dome system, which has been 90% effective in intercepting rockets fired from Gaza. The US has also partnered with Israel to develop a joint missile defense system, with the US investing $3 billion in the project.
The Trump administration has also allocated $3 billion to develop a satellite-based sensor system called the Hypersonic Ballistic Tracking Space Sensor, which will be used to track and intercept hypersonic missiles. The system is currently in its prototype phase and is expected to be deployed in the near future.
The executive order also tasks Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth with submitting a plan to accelerate the deployment of the missile defense system, as well as developing new technologies to disable incoming missiles before they reach their targets.
In addition, Hegseth is instructed to conduct a review of the US military’s missile defense posture in theaters across the globe and identify areas for cooperation with allies. The order also calls for increased bilateral and multilateral cooperation on missile defense technology development, capabilities, and operations.
