The Skywalker Saga has come to an end, but Star Wars is far from over. Lucasfilm has announced a slew of upcoming movies and TV shows that will bring the beloved franchise back to the big and small screens.
First up is “The Mandalorian & Grogu,” which is set to hit theaters on May 22, 2026. The film is being written and directed by Jon Favreau and stars Pedro Pascal, Steve Blum, and Sigourney Weaver.
Lucasfilm has also confirmed that Shawn Levy’s Star Wars movie is in the works, although details are scarce. The film was originally announced in 2019, but development was put on hold due to the writers’ and actors’ strikes.
In addition to the movies, Lucasfilm has a number of TV shows in the works. These include “Star Wars: Tales of the Empire,” an animated anthology show that spins out of “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” and is set to release on May 4, 2024. “The Acolyte” is a live-action show set around a century before the events of “Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace” and is set to premiere on June 4, 2024. “Star Wars: Skeleton Crew” is another show set in the Mandalorian era and follows a group of children adrift in space with the help of Jude Law’s mysterious Jedi character. The show is expected to premiere later in 2024.
Other upcoming TV shows include “Andor” season 2, which will release on Disney+ in 2025, and “Ahsoka” season 2, which has begun production.
Despite the setbacks and false starts of the past, it’s clear that Lucasfilm is committed to bringing new and exciting Star Wars content to audiences in the coming years.
