Washington Commanders fumble away NFC Championship, lose to Philadelphia Eagles

The Washington Commanders fumbled the ball away for their third turnover of the NFC Championship against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, leading to chaos at the goal line. Saquon Barkley busted free for a 22-yard run, getting the Eagles within one yard of adding to their lead.

Jalen Hurts, the Eagles’ quarterback, tried to break into the end zone but was stopped. Defensive lineman Jonathan Allen was called for a defensive offsides, and then the Commanders committed three straight penalties to try to stop the play. Linebacker Frankie Luvu was called for two encroachment penalties, and Allen was called for another, with the officials warning that they would award the Eagles a score if they continued to deliberately jump the play and commit penalties.

After Allen’s third foul, Hurts was able to push into the end zone for his fourth touchdown of the game, putting the Eagles up 41-23 with 12:24 remaining in the game. Hurts had a dominant performance, rushing for three touchdowns and throwing a touchdown pass to wide receiver A.J. Brown earlier in the game. Barkley ran for two touchdowns in the first quarter, including a 60-yard gallop.

The loss marks a disappointing end to the season for the Commanders. The Eagles, on the other hand, are nearing their second Super Bowl appearance in three years.
